The Town of Oyster Bay 2013-2014 Distinguished Artists Concert series continues in January with a number of performances at various libraries throughout the Town, Councilwoman Rebecca Alesia announced.
“This program, which is one of the Town’s most popular, runs through May 2014 and features performances by a diverse collection of musical acts and dance programs,” Councilwoman Alesia stated. “These concerts, all free of charge, help illustrate how truly diverse the interests of our residents here in the Town are, and these concerts provide them with the finest cultural and performing arts entertainment in the comfort and convenience of their local library.”
Councilwoman Alesia noted that for the month of January, four performances remain:
-On Sunday, January 12, at 1:00 p.m. at the Massapequa Public Library, in the Bar Harbor Building, located at 40 Harbor Lane in Massapequa Park, residents are invited to a performance of soulful r&b, blues, rock and jazz from Danny Kean & Friends.
-On Sunday, January 19, at 2:00 p.m., Estampas Folkloricas Peru will delight those in attendance with a program of traditional folk dance and music at the Hicksville Public Library, located at 169 Jerusalem Avenue in Hicksville.
-On Saturday, January 25, at 7:30 p.m., the Hard Tango Trio will bring residents ‘un noche en la Argentina’ at the Syosset Public Library, located at 225 South Oyster Bay Road, in Syosset.
-On Sunday, January 26, at 2:00 p.m., Masterwork Conversations present residents in attendance with a performance of ‘Paris! – A Moveable Music Feast’ at the Locust Valley Public Library, located at 170 Buckram Road, in Locust Valley.
Councilwoman Alesia noted that the “Distinguished Artists” concert series is sponsored by the Cultural and Performing Arts (CAPA) Division of the Town of Oyster Bay’s Department of Community & Youth Services. Anyone looking for more information should call 797-7900.
