Massapequa Chamber of Commerce Honors ‘Law Enforcement Officers of the Year’

Law Enforcement Officers of the YearNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of attending the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award Ceremony. This year’s recipients of this notable award were 7th Precinct Officers Daniel Imondi and Joseph Paratore. “It was a pleasure to recognize and honor both officers for their integrity, dedication, courage and their commitment to public service” stated Legislator Kennedy.

Legislator Kennedy Attends Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Brendan Maloney

Brendan MaloneyNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy offered congratulations and presented a Legislative Citation to Brendan Maloney of Massapequa Park Boy Scout Troop 339 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest and most prestigious rank within the Boy Scout organization.

 

For his Eagle Scout project, Brendan renovated an unused portion of land currently owned by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Babylon, cutting down overhanging branches and mending the grass in the area. As a finishing touch, he built a horseshoe pit for everyone in the community to enjoy.

The NUMC Mammography Van is Coming to Farmingdale

Legislator Kennedy announces the NUMC Mammography Van is coming to Farmingdale

 

Thursday, August 17, 2017 • 8:45 AM to 12:00 Noon

Allen Ellsworth Park – 45 Motor Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735

 

Nassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy is pleased to announce that the Nassau University Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van will be coming to Farmingdale to provide breast cancer screenings for women over age forty. The screening will include a breast examination by a nurse, a mammography and instructions for breast self-examination.

 

If it’s been at least a year since your last mammography and you are planning to receive an exam, you will need a prescription for the exam from your doctor (if you have insurance) and must provide any past exam films, if available. Women with health insurance will be required to make a co-payment. The mammography is free for uninsured women, based on eligibility guidelines.

Legislator Kennedy Presents 2017 Nassau County Legislative Student Citizenship Award

Jake TaylorLegislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of presenting the 2017 Nassau County Legislative Student Citizenship Award to Jake Taylor, recent graduate of Massapequa High School.

 

As an AP student with a positive attitude and strong leadership skills, Jake pursued excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and has been actively involved in community service. Congratulations to Jake on his outstanding achievements.

Legislator Kennedy Attends Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Lawrence Joseph Brussell, Jr.

Eagle Scout Lawrence Joseph Brussell JrNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy recently attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for Lawrence Joseph Brussell Jr. and presented him with a citation in acknowledgement of his accomplishment. For his Eagle Scout project, Lawrence transformed a piece of land into a beautiful garden at the Carman Road School for physically and developmentally disabled students.

Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of attending their award ceremony on June 21st at Massapequa Park Village Hall and presenting both Camryn and Delaney with citations for their dedication in making a difference in their community.

Massapequa Strawberry Festival a Success

Massapequa Strawberry FestivalNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of attending the Massapequa Historical Society’s Annual Strawberry Festival at the Old Grace Church in Massapequa. There were crafts, face painting, raffles and, of course, plenty of strawberries with delicious homemade shortcake!

Legislator Kennedy Attends Court of Honor for Massapequa Eagle Scout Nicholas Von Rosk

Nicholas Von RoskNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy proudly presented Nicholas Von Rosk of Massapequa Boy Scout Troop 590 with an honorary citation at his Court of Honor Ceremony where he became an Eagle Scout, the highest and most prestigious rank within the organization.

 

Nicholas’ Eagle Scout project consisted of organizing and participating in a clean-up of the Tackapausha Nature Preserve for all to enjoy.
