Challenger Baseball Opening Day Ceremony a Success

Challenger BaseballNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of attending Challenger Baseball’s opening day festivities held at John Burns Park in Massapequa Park.

 

“Challenger Baseball is a wonderful Little League program that is specifically designed for children and young adults with special needs” stated Legislator Kennedy.

Legislator Kennedy Honors Laura Maier as ‘Woman Of Distinction’

Laura MaierIn celebration of Women’s History Month, the Nassau County Legislature held their 20th Annual “Women of Distinction” Ceremony.

 

Laura Maier was recognized as Legislator Kennedy’s honoree this year for her accomplishments and contributions to the community. As a successful entrepreneur with numerous franchises on Long Island, Laura has sponsored many fundraisers throughout the years for schools, sports teams and local charitable organizations. Each summer Laura partners with the Children’s Miracle Network Foundation to raise funds for the Cohen Children’s Medical Center.

 

“It was a pleasure to present this award to Laura for her achievements and for the positive impact she has had in Nassau County” stated Legislator Kennedy.

Legislator Kennedy Attends Pinewood Derby

Pinewood DerbyNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of participating in the Pinewood Derby, one of the most popular activities in Cub Scouting.

 

Massapequa Cub Scout Pack 590 hosted this annual event at Lockhart Elementary School on January 20th. All leaders, scouts, family members and spectators had a great day at this exciting and challenging racing competition.

Massapequa International Little League AwardsMassapequa International Little League recently hosted their 24th Annual Awards Dinner at the Royal Palm catering hall in Farmingdale and Legislator James D. Kennedy was on hand to congratulate the winning teams and all the little league participants for their commitment to the Little League program.

This wonderful outreach program welcomes all parish seniors and their friends and neighbors, promoting a strong, caring community and the opportunity to enjoy each other’s company.

Massapequa Chamber of Commerce Honors ‘Law Enforcement Officers of the Year’

Law Enforcement Officers of the YearNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of attending the Massapequa Chamber of Commerce Law Enforcement Officer of the Year Award Ceremony. This year’s recipients of this notable award were 7th Precinct Officers Daniel Imondi and Joseph Paratore. “It was a pleasure to recognize and honor both officers for their integrity, dedication, courage and their commitment to public service” stated Legislator Kennedy.

Legislator Kennedy Attends Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Brendan Maloney

Brendan MaloneyNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy offered congratulations and presented a Legislative Citation to Brendan Maloney of Massapequa Park Boy Scout Troop 339 for achieving the rank of Eagle Scout, the highest and most prestigious rank within the Boy Scout organization.

 

For his Eagle Scout project, Brendan renovated an unused portion of land currently owned by the Ancient Order of Hibernians in Babylon, cutting down overhanging branches and mending the grass in the area. As a finishing touch, he built a horseshoe pit for everyone in the community to enjoy.

The NUMC Mammography Van is Coming to Farmingdale

Legislator Kennedy announces the NUMC Mammography Van is coming to Farmingdale

 

Thursday, August 17, 2017 • 8:45 AM to 12:00 Noon

Allen Ellsworth Park – 45 Motor Ave., Farmingdale, NY 11735

 

Nassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy is pleased to announce that the Nassau University Medical Center Mobile Mammography Van will be coming to Farmingdale to provide breast cancer screenings for women over age forty. The screening will include a breast examination by a nurse, a mammography and instructions for breast self-examination.

 

If it’s been at least a year since your last mammography and you are planning to receive an exam, you will need a prescription for the exam from your doctor (if you have insurance) and must provide any past exam films, if available. Women with health insurance will be required to make a co-payment. The mammography is free for uninsured women, based on eligibility guidelines.

Legislator Kennedy Presents 2017 Nassau County Legislative Student Citizenship Award

Jake TaylorLegislator James D. Kennedy had the pleasure of presenting the 2017 Nassau County Legislative Student Citizenship Award to Jake Taylor, recent graduate of Massapequa High School.

 

As an AP student with a positive attitude and strong leadership skills, Jake pursued excellence in academics, extracurricular activities and has been actively involved in community service. Congratulations to Jake on his outstanding achievements.

Legislator Kennedy Attends Court of Honor for Eagle Scout Lawrence Joseph Brussell, Jr.

Eagle Scout Lawrence Joseph Brussell JrNassau County Legislator James D. Kennedy recently attended an Eagle Scout Court of Honor Ceremony for Lawrence Joseph Brussell Jr. and presented him with a citation in acknowledgement of his accomplishment. For his Eagle Scout project, Lawrence transformed a piece of land into a beautiful garden at the Carman Road School for physically and developmentally disabled students.
