McKevitt To Host 2nd Prostate Cancer Screening

Overwhelming Success of First Event Prompts Second to Meet Community Need

Earlier this year, Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I – East Meadow) hosted a free prostate cancer screening that was so successful it prompted him to host a second event, which is scheduled for Thursday, October 29, 2015.

“My office and I organize many community events, and the prostate cancer screening was a new addition this year. I was overwhelmed by how valuable the community found this event and decided to host a second one to help residents protect themselves against prostate cancer,” said McKevitt. “Early detection is key, and I encourage any resident concerned about his prostate health to schedule an appointment for this free event.”

McKevitt is again partnering with Integrated Medical Foundation and Shield Medical Laboratory to conduct the free screening, which will be held at the Farmingdale Public Library. The screening is open to men aged 40-and-older who have not been previously diagnosed with prostate cancer. Insurance is not required and there is no cost to participants, though they will need to bring photo identification and one stamped, self-addressed envelope in order to be notified of test results. The test is a simple PSA blood test.

Appointments are required. Space for the screening is limited so the public is encouraged to make appointments early. To make an appointment, please call McKevitt’s office at (516) 228-4960.
