Johnson Announces Registration for Spring Co-Ed Basketball

Co-Ed basketball program will begin on Thursday April 12 with two sessions. There will be two sessions held on Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays. Session 1 will be held on Thursday 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Saturday from 7:00 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and Sundays 7:00 a.m. to 9:00 a.m. Session 2 will be held on Thursdays 10:30 p.m. to Midnight, Saturday from 8:30 a.m., to 10:00 a.m. and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. The programs are 12 weeks in duration. The cost for badminton and volleyball are $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents. The cost for basketball is $25 for residents and $40 for non-residents. Proof of residency is required for the resident discount.

 

Registration for the program will take place at the Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center, 167 Broadway in Hicksville, on Monday, March 5 and Wednesday, March 7 from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 10 from 9 a.m. to 12 noon. After these dates, registration will continue based on availability. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change and residents are encouraged to inquire about special holiday scheduling.

Councilman Hand Announces Registration for Spring Co-Ed Fitness Classes

Councilman Thomas P. Hand invites residents interested in maintaining or improving their levels of fitness to participate in the Town of Oyster Bay’s popular Co-Ed Fitness Classes, which return this April. The spring fitness classes are for individuals 18 years of age or older and will be held at the Hicksville Athletic Center.

 

“These fitness programs provide a terrific form of aerobic exercise that builds strength as well as increases general flexibility,” said Councilman Hand. “Zumba, Yoga and Pilates are very popular programs that give residents an outlet to enjoy exercising and staying in shape, all while meeting new people.”

 

Registration for the three programs will take place at the Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center, 167 Broadway in Hicksville, on Monday, March 5th and Wednesday, March 7th from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. and Saturday, March 10th from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m. After these dates, registration will continue based on availability. Please note that the schedule may be subject to change and residents are encouraged to inquire about special holiday scheduling. Each program is 10 weeks in length with a fee of $60 for residents and $70 for non-residents.

 

Zumba classes will hold two sessions. Residents can choose one session, either Mondays (starting Monday, April 9th from 7 p.m. to 8 p.m.) or Wednesdays (beginning Wednesday, April 11th from 7:45 p.m. to 8:45 p.m.).

 

Pilates classes will hold two sessions. Residents can choose one session, either Mondays (starting Monday, April 9th from 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.) or Wednesdays (beginning Wednesday, April 11th from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m).

 

Yoga classes will be offered in four sessions. Residents can choose one session. Options include Tuesdays (starting Tuesday, April 10th, 8 p.m. to 9 p.m.), Wednesday’s (starting Wednesday, April 11th, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.), Saturdays (starting Saturday April 14th, 9 a.m. to 10 a.m.) or Sundays (starting Sunday, April 15th, 7 a.m. to 8 a.m.).

Free Junior Knicks Basketball Clinic on Saturday March 24th

Oyster Bay Town Supervisor Joseph Saladino announced that the Town of Oyster Bay, in partnership with the New York Knicks, will host a Free Junior Knicks Basketball Clinic on Saturday, March 24th from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at the Hicksville Athletic Center, located at 167 S. Broadway. The event is open to boys and girls ages 5 through 14.

 

“The Town of Oyster Bay is proud to partner with the New York Knicks to bring this outstanding clinic to our residents,” Supervisor Saladino said. “This is a great opportunity for children to learn about the sport of basketball from some of the area’s finest coaches and players. The Hicksville Athletic Center is a great facility and it is an honor that the Knicks chose this venue for this premier event.”

 

The Junior Knicks Clinic is designed to teach kids the fundamentals of basketball in a structured clinic setting. Instruction will be carried out by NY Junior Knicks Coaching Staff and Knicks Alumni. It is sure to be an exciting and memorable event for both youngsters and their parents.

Councilman Macagnone Invites Residents to Register for Winter 2016 Open Court Volleyball Program

Residents looking for a way to exercise or an outlet for a fun social activity during the winter are invited to take part in the Town of Oyster Bay’s Winter 2016 Open Court Volleyball Program, according to Town Councilman Anthony Macagnone. The program is open to Town residents and non-residents 18 and older, and will be held at the Town of Oyster Bay Hicksville Athletic Center.

 

The volleyball program begins on Tuesday, January 5 and will be held on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Saturdays. It will be conducted on Mondays from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., Tuesdays from 9:00 p.m. to 10:30 p.m., and Saturdays from 8:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m. The program is 12 weeks in duration, and is $75 for residents and $100 for non-residents. Proof of residency is required.

 

“The volleyball program is an excellent hobby to undertake during the chilly winter months,” Councilman Macagnone said.
