McKevitt’s Annual East Meadow Blood Drive Breaks Donation Record

East Meadow Blood DriveAssemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) hosted his annual blood drive at the East Meadow Public Library on July 28 with a record-breaking 104 pints of blood donated to Long Island Blood Services.


“We have been hosting this blood drive for years and it is wonderful to see the event grow and continue to be such a success,” said McKevitt. “It is wonderful to live in and represent a community that is so generous. Thank you to everyone who donated and to Long Island Blood Services, and if anyone who hasn’t donated yet this summer would like to participate please consider donating at my upcoming drive at the Farmingdale Public Library on August 29.”


All donors will receive a pair of NY Mets tickets, compliments of Long Island Blood Services. The August 29 drive will be held from 2 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. at the Farmingdale Public Library. McDonough to Host Community Blood Drive in Merrick

Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick), along with Long Island Blood Services, will be hosting a Blood Drive on Wednesday, August 16 at the Merrick Road Golf Clubhouse between the hours of 1:30 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. There is a blood shortage at this time of year and hospitals are in dire need of additional donations. Volunteering to give blood can save a life and keep our community safe and healthy.


“I host these blood drives every year to help keep as many of our citizens as healthy and safe as possible,” McDonough said, “A single pint of blood can save a life, and by donating you’ll be saving potentially someone’s family member, someone’s friend, someone’s neighbor. It cannot be stressed enough how important these types of drives are to our community and our families. I urge everyone to consider making an appointment and volunteering to donate on August 16 to help save as many local lives as we can.”


McDonough has held an annual blood drive for many years and reminds those who want to volunteer to bring a valid ID and remember their Social Security Number. Along with being over 110lbs, donors must be at least 17 years of age (16 with parental permission), eat well, drink water prior to the appointment and not have received a tattoo within the past 12 months (unless applied in New Jersey).

Senator Venditto Holds Blood Drive in Massapequa Park

Blood DriveNew York State Senator Michael Venditto, (R, C, I- Massapequa) held a Community Blood Drive in cooperation with the Long Island Blood Services, at the Massapequa Park Village Hall.


Senator Venditto partnered with Nassau County Legislator James Kennedy to bring this Blood Drive to the community. Senator Venditto would like to thank residents, Long Island Blood Services and the Mayor of the Massapequa Park, Jeff Pervato for making the blood drive a success with over 52 units of blood collected.

Montesano, Ra Thank Donors For Making Community Blood Drive A Success

Assemblymen Michael Montesano (R,C,I-Franklin Square) and Ed Ra (R –Franklin Square) are extending their appreciation to residents, Long Island Blood Services and the Gold Coast Public Library for making their annual Blood Drive a huge community success.


“I would like to express my sincere thanks to donors, Long Island Blood Services and the Gold Coast Public Library; their collaborated efforts made our blood drive a great success.” said Montesano. “I appreciate those who took the time to come out and make a donation. It was great to see so many of our residents join us in support of a great cause.”


Overall, 39 units of blood were collected, and as a reward for their valuable contribution, all donors received two tickets to an upcoming New York Mets game from the Long Island Blood Services.


“Thank you to everyone who participated in this community blood drive,” said Ra. “Our regional blood banks are always in need of donations, and the blood donated by our generous community members may save someone’s life. I am truly overwhelmed with the number of residents who joined us at today’s event. Their donations will make a great difference.”

McKevitt Brings Blood Drive To Island Trees

Donations Needed; Collected at Public Library by Long Island Blood Services


Assemblyman Tom McKevitt (R,C,I-East Meadow) is partnering with Long Island Blood Services to host a blood drive at the Island Trees Public Library on Wednesday, June 25, 2014. Every donor will receive a pair of complimentary New York Mets tickets (provided by Long Island Blood Services).


“The summer months are a time when blood donations are in short supply, and it is crucial that we have an adequate supply here on Long Island. Disaster could strike at any moment, and the people who donate blood are literally donating life,” said McKevitt, who hosts blood drives regularly throughout the 17th Assembly District.


The blood drive will be held at the Island Trees Public Library located at 38 Farmedge Road in Levittown on Wednesday, June 25, 2014 from 1:30 to 7:30 p.m.


To donate, you must be between 16 and 75 years old, weigh at least 110 pounds and not have gotten a tattoo within the past 12 months. To schedule an appointment, please call Assemblyman McKevitt’s office at (516) 228-4960.

McDonough To Host Blood Drive On April 10

Local blood banks in critical need of support



Assemblyman Dave McDonough (R,C,I-Merrick) recently announced he will be hosting a blood drive with Long Island Blood Services on Monday, April 21 from 1:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at the Town of Hempstead Merrick Road Golf Clubhouse, 2550 Clubhouse Road in Merrick.


“Your support today can save someone’s life tomorrow, and our local blood banks have a tremendous need for all blood types,” said McDonough. “I am proud to host this event with Long Island Blood Services and strongly encourage all who are eligible to donate. Local residents are always exceptionally generous with their support, and I am confident this will continue. Remember, your donation can improve the lives of those in our community when they need help the most.”


To be a donor you must:


  • Bring valid photo or signature identification;
  • Weigh at least 110 lbs;
  • Be age 16-75 (16-year-olds must have parental permission);
  • Eat well and be hydrated prior to your appointment; and
  • Not have gotten a tattoo within 12 months (unless applied in New Jersey).

Thanks To All Donors For Making Our Community Blood Drive A Success
